With over 30 years of experience as an actor on stage, in television, and on film, and 17 years of teaching, Robyn brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this course. Through this class, you will learn about the art and craft of stage acting, as well as what it takes to build a long-lasting and fulfilling career in the theater.
Robyn will guide you through the process of preparing for a stage performance, from developing your character to connecting with your audience. You will learn how to use your voice, body, and emotions to create a performance that moves your audience.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Robyn has enjoyed teaching actors for over 17 years, and is in her 30th year of working as a professional actor.
After earning her BFA from The Juilliard School, and her MFA from The Shakespeare Theatre Company at George Washington University, Robyn taught and directed at The Victory Theatre Center, Playhouse West (L.A.’s premiere Meisner School), The William Inge Theatre Festival, Studio 4 and The Meisner Institute. She is a Teaching Artist, Guest Instructor and Acting Coach for stage, film, and at Theatre Festivals around the United States and abroad.
Subsequent to co-leading a Professional Acting Class alongside film star Jeff Goldblum, she founded her own Acting School, The Cohen Acting Studio - where she leads classes to Students as well as top-tier Professionals in a wide range of styles, mediums and techniques.
Additionally, Robyn is an award-winning Theatre Director, helming such productions as: "The Elephant Man" by Bernard Pomerance, "Fool For Love" by Sam Shepard, “A View from the Bridge" by Arthur Miller, "Tape" by Stephen Belber, “The Break of Noon" and “Some Girls” by Neil LaBute, “27 Wagons Full of Cotton" by Tennessee Williams, "Hello Out There" by William Saroyan and “Drowning” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
In her decades as a professional Actor, Robyn has performed in such productions as: "The Exonerated,” “The Prisoner of Second Avenue” (both opposite Jeff Goldblum), the west coast premiere of Neil Labute's "The Shape of Things," "No Way Around but Through" (starring Melanie Griffith), "The French Waitress” (Off-Broadway; overseen by John Patrick Shanley), "Rigoletto” (overseen by Plácido Domingo), “Proof,” "The Grand Tour” (overseen by Jerry Herman), the west coast premiere of "The Father" (nominated for Best Supporting Actress), “Romance, Romance” (winner of Best Supporting Actress) and more!
Regionally, Robyn’s also appeared onstage with: The Actors Theatre of Louisville, Lincoln Center, The Geffen Playhouse, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, The Ford's Theater (D.C.), The Delaware Rep., Goodspeed Opera House, The Coachella Valley Rep., Long Beach Playhouse, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Great Lakes Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, The Sacramento Light Opera, Bucks County Playhouse, and in the National Tour of the Broadway musical, "Cabaret."
In other mediums, Robyn starred in the T.V. series "Gravity" for starz network and “That Guy” for FOX, and made additional appearances on: "Law and Order True Crime," "Cristela," "N.C.I.S.," "The Defenders," "Invasion," "The Closer," "Angel," "The Strand," "N.C.I.S. L.A.," "Starved," "LAX," and others.
Some of Robyn’s film credits include: Wes Anderson's "The Life Aquatic" (opposite Bill Murray), "The Celestine Prophecy” (based on the NY Times bestseller), "Beau Jest" (with Lainie Kazan), "Road Hard" (opposite Adam Carolla), "Good Time Max," "Fools Gold" (co-starring James Franco), Richard Halpern's cult thriller, "ZZYZX,” and the sci-fi sensation, “Ascension.”
She's appeared in over 55 national commercials and is a contributing writer to John Jory's handbook, "Tips on Auditioning: Ideas for Actors."
Robyn’s performed and trained students in the works of David Mamet, August Wilson, Craig Wright, Anton Chekhov, Tina Howe, Katori Hall, William Shakespeare, Adam Rapp, David Auburn, Jon Robin Baitz, Dominique Morisseau, Tennessee Williams, Jon Jory, Theresa Rebeck, Arthur Miller, Christopher Hampton and Clifford Odets among others.

Yes!
After you complete all of the chapters in a course, you’ll be able to take a short quiz proving your completion and comprehension of the class lessons and principles.
If you score over an 80%, you’ll receive a certificate from Theatre Ave Academy proving your completion of the course.
*Theatre Teachers! It’s important to note that every state has different requirements for approval for PD hours. In some states or districts, you can send in your certificate as proof and they’ll award you hours. In others this class must be approved at the state level. Theatre Ave Academy is in the process of getting all of our courses approved in those states.
The Acting for the Stage class certificate is for 2.5 credit hours.
